University of Calcutta Admissions 2016: Ph.D. (Tech) In CSE Notification Released

University of Calcutta has invited applications from eligible candidates for Ph.D. (Tech) in Computer Science and Engineering offered at Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Rashbehari Siksha Prangan (commonly known as Rajabazar science college campus). Candidates can download the application from the university website, and applications are accepted till 11th November, 2016. There are 13 seats available and selection will be based on written test and performance in the interview.

Applicants shall complete M.E./M.Tech./B.Tech./B.E. in Computer Science & Engineering or MCA from any recognized university. Candidates who are in the final semester of qualifying exam are also eligible to apply provided their course shall complete before date of enrollment for Ph.D. programme. Apart from educational qualifications candidates who have UGC NET / CSIR JRF /SLET/SET/GATE or equivalent will have priority in the admission process and also will be exempted from written test conducted by the university.

Candidates have to pay a sum of Rs 100/- against application fee in the form of challan at university cash counters and have to send along with filled application and other necessary documents. Application shall be forwarded to “Department of Computer Science & Engineering, University of Calcutta, JD-2, Sector–III, SaltLake, Kolkata–700106, India” before last date of submission.

Syllabus for written test covers discrete mathematics, operating systems, data structures, algorithms, computer networks, database management systems, computer architecture, C, C++ and Java. Interview will primarily focus on candidate’s research aptitude.

Written test for Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering by University of Calcutta will be held on 25th November and shortlisted candidates will be called for interview which will be held on 1st and 2nd of December, 2016. Course work will commence from 1st week of January 2017.
