Xavier Aptitude Test - XAT 2017

XLRI (Xavier School of Management) Jamshedpur conducts XAT to evaluate the efficiency of candidates for the management programs offered by XLRI and other member institutes. More than 100 XAMI member institutes admit candidates into M.B.A. & Post Graduate Diploma programs on the basis of merit obtained in the XAT exam. XLRI will conduct GD and PI along with XAT to derive the merit of the candidates for admission in to 2 year PGDM program with HRM, BM and GM as specializations.  Applicants willing to appear for XAT (Xavier Aptitude Test) have to register online and the test format is conventional pen and paper based to suit the candidates of all the backgrounds.

XLRI initiated the XAT 2017 application process and online window form registration will be available from 17th August 2016 to 30th November 2016. With a late fee candidates can register for the test till 11th December 2016. XAT 2017 will be conducted on 8th January 2016 from 10:00AM to 1:30PM.

Registration Procedure

 Candidates have to initially register with a valid email-id to create an account for XAT 2017 and an email will be sent to the mail-id, and clicking on the link provided in the mail will let to create a new password.

  • Log in to the application window and fill the name, test center and upload the soft copy of photograph and signature and save the details.
  • In the next step select the citizen ship
  • Candidates who are interested in applying course offered at XLRI  can select the course desired and who ever are not interested can skip the step
  • On next step fill all the primary details required, like Name, DOB, Gender, Category and etc.
  • Next fill mailing address and  permanent address
  • In this step provide all the education details starting from SSC
  • Up on next candidates who ever are applying for PGDM GM program have to provide the work experience details

Payment mode

Now candidates will be navigated to the payment window where one can opt any of the available 3 options i.e. online mode, DD and cash. Candidates who are applying for only  XAT 2017 have to remit sum of  Rs 1600/- as application fee and who also apply to XLRI have remit a sum of Rs 300/- for each course selected.

Candidates willing to pay online can pay through debit/ credit cards. Candidates can pay the fee by DD taken in favor of "XLRI Jamshedpur A/C XAT" payable at Jamshedpur. Candidates who opted for payment in cash have to take the print out of the pay-in slip and have to remit the sum in any IDBI bank branches. Candidates paying fee through DD and cash have to update the payment details in the registration form. Candidates are advised to take a print out of XAT 2017 confirmation page for future reference.

Eligibility

  • Both Indian and NRI/ Foreign national candidates are eligible
  • Candidates shall possess a minimum 3 year bachelor degree from any recognized university  or equivalent
  • Candidates who are appearing final year of qualifying exam in 2017 and completing before 10th June are also eligible.
  • To apply for PGDM with GM specialization, candidates shall obtain three years of work experience by March 2017

Exam Structure and Syllabus

XAT 2017 test paper covers questions from Quantitative Ability, English Language & Logical Reasoning, Decision Making, General Knowledge and Essay. Every year XAT paper will be unique and as per XAT 2016 Test paper is divided in to 2 parts. Part-1 with 3 sections will be covering the questions from Quantitative Ability, English Language & Logical Reasoning and Decision Making. A total of 78 questions were formulated and have to finish the part-1 in 170 minutes time frame. All the questions will have 5 options with single correct anwer.

Part-2 covers the GK and Essay and has to finish in duration of 35 minutes. Part-2 marks will not be calculated at the time of short listing for GD/PI and will be used only at the time of final selections.

Each question will have 5 options with single correct answer and candidates have to bubble the OMR sheets with blue/black point pens only.

All the questions will carry equal marks and ¼ of the mark will be deducted for every wrong answer.  In view to attempt the maximum questions by the candidates XAT adopted a deduction of 0.05 marks for every un-attempted question and up to 13 questions can be un-attempted by candidates without negative marking.

Admit Card for XAT 2017

Candidates whose application has been accepted for XAT 2017 can download admit cards that will be available from 20th December 2016 on XATONLINE portal by providing XAT id and password.

Test centers

XAT 2017 is conducted at 47 test cities in India and 2 test cities in abroad. Exam will be conducted in following cities in India i.e. Agartala, Ahmedabad, Allahabad, Amritsar, Bengaluru, Berhampur, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Cochin, Coimbatore, Cuttack, Dehradun, Delhi, Goa, Greater Noida, Gurgaon (Gurugram), Guwahati, Hyderabad, Indore, Jabalpur, Jaipur, Jammu, Jamshedpur, Kanpur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mangalore, Mumbai, Nagpur, Nasik, Noida, Patna, Pune, Raipur, Ranchi, Rourkela, Sambalpur, Surat, Tiruchirapalli, Trivandrum, Udaipur, Vadodara, Varanasi, Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam. Dubai and Kathmandu are international test cities.
