Lucknow University Admissions 2016-17: Applications Invited for Ph.D. Programs

Lucknow University has announced admissions schedule for Ph.D. programs offered at university departments and affiliated colleges who conduct post graduate courses at regular basis. Ph.D. programs are offered in the faculties of Science, Arts, Commerce, Education, Law and Fine Arts at university and affiliated institutions.  Applications are accepted from 26th September and last date for online application and fee payment is October 20th, 2016.

Selection process for Ph.D. programs contains QET (Qualifying Entrance Test) and interview. Candidates who passed a masters degree from relevant discipline with an aggregate of 55% (50% for SC/ST/OBC) or grade “B” in UGC 7 point scale are eligible for seeking admission into Ph.D. programs.  QET will be conducted for a duration of 90 minutes which contains 100 multiple choice questions derived from syllabus as prescribed for masters programs at Lucknow University. Qualifying Entrance Exam (QET) will test the candidate’s subject proficiency at post graduate level and aptitude towards research.

Candidates who are employed for permanent positions at Luknow university/government aided colleges in teaching departments as professors/assistant professors or candidates who secured research fellowship/scholar ship from UGC NET/CISR/GATE – MHRD or any other scholarships or candidates who selected for government agency sponsor projects through open selection are exempted from appearing QET.

Candidates who qualified in the QET will have to attend interview process which has 3 stages. Each stage will carry 20 marks and interview score will be computed for a total of 60 marks.  In these steps candidates have to submit a research proposal (400 to 600 words) in the area of interest and a PowerPoint presentation to interview board followed by a personal interview.

Lucknow university board has formulated academic index calculation and will consider the academic performance of the candidates at under graduate and post graduate levels as per the aggregates obtained (for a maximum of 20 marks) at such levels. Candidates having  research fellowship/scholar ship from UGC NET/CISR/GATE – MHRD or any other scholarships or candidates who selected for government agency sponsor projects through open selection will be awarded with 20 marks. Academic index will be calculated for a maximum of 40 marks.

Final selection of candidates will be based on performance in the interview and academic index score. Marks scored in the interview (Max 60 marks) and academic index (max 40 marks) will be added and merit list will be prepared on the basis of total marks obtained.

Candidates seeking admissions to Ph.D. programs in University of Lucknow for academic year 2016 -17 have to fill the application form online.  Candidates have to select the faculty and course to get start with form filling. After course selection candidates have to do a onetime registration providing name, DOB, father name, mother name, email-id and mobile number. Successfully registered candidates will receive the login details to the mobile number and email-id which were provided at the time of registration.

Candidates have to provide the educational qualifications, marks obtained as mentioned in the mark sheets, subjects studied in the final year of graduation and post graduate specialization to move to photo graph and signature upload. Candidates have to upload the scanned copy of photograph and signature as prescribed to complete the application filling. Candidates have to provide pho-id details during the form filling which has to be carried in original to the test venue.

Online application process provides a preview option to check for correctness of details entered in the form and candidates can check for errors. Upon satisfaction with data entered, candidates can submit the form to continue with fee payment.  No changes in application are entertained after fee payment. Candidates can pay the requisite fee through credit card/debit card/net banking or E-challan. Candidates are advised to take print out of the submitted application form and fee receipt, as printed application form has to be carried to the test venue.

Entrance test will be conducted for all the subjects at old university campus and date of the test will be announced later.  No admit card will be issued to the applicants and candidates have to carry the print out of application form along with photo-id to attend the entrance test. University will short list the candidates for selection process who scored a minimum of 50% in the QET and will be called for interview process.
