Banaras Hindu University BHU RET 2016 Test Date is 27th November

Banaras Hindu University (BHU) has announced the RET (Research Entrance Test) 2016 exam date, and exam will be conducted on 27^th November, 2016. University will conduct the RET for admissions to Ph.D./M.Phil. and Integrated M.Phil. + Ph.D. programs offered by various departments and faculties of the university.

Online application window for BHU RET 2016 is available from 22^nd October and last date for online application submission is 12^th November, 2016. Eligible candidates who are willing to apply have pay sum of Rs 500/- (Rs 250/- for Sc/ST) against application fee. Candidates have to upload scanned copy of photograph and signature while applying online.

Candidates willing to apply for BHU RET 2016 shall pass the qualifying exam with minimum 55% aggregate or equivalent marks, and have to meet faculty specific qualifying examination to get eligible for admissions. Candidates who wish to apply for Faculty of management studies have to pass the qualifying examination with an aggregate of 60% to be eligible for admissions. There is 5% relaxation in aggregate marks for reserved category applicants.

Applicants of various Ph.D. programmes can select a maximum of 5 disciplines during RET 2016 application process. Exam will be conducted at Varanasi, New Delhi, Kolkata and Hyderabad test centers and candidate can choose only one from them. 

Banaras Hindu University will conduct separate entrance exam for M.Phil. and Ph.D. programmes. Admit cards for RET 2016 will be available for download from 18^th November, 2016 and candidates can download the same providing unique registration id obtained during registration.  Candidates have to affix a passport size photograph on the printout of RET 2016 Admit card and have to self attest the admit card before attending the exam conducted by Banaras Hindu University.

For admissions to Ph.D. and integrated M.Phil.+Ph.D. programmes, Research Entrance Test will have 3 components named TEST-A, TEST-B and TEST-C. TEST A and TEST B will be conducted on 27^th November, 2016 on the same day and TEST -C is for shortlisted candidates that will be held at concerned departments/faculties on 15^th December, 2016.

Candidates appearing the entrance test for M.Phil. will have to attend Test-A and Test-B of the concerned discipline and Test-A will be qualifier and for candidates who qualified in the Test-A, merit will be evaluated based on TEST-B scores.

TEST-A will test the candidate’s logical and analytical capabilities and TEST-B will assess the subject knowledge in which he/she wish to pursue and TEST-C evaluates research proposal by candidate followed by personal interview.

Candidates who have fellowship awards from UGC  NET, CISR, SLET, ICAR and GATE or candidates with institution sponsorship are exempted from appearing RET 2016 for admissions into Ph.D.  and Integrated M.Phil+Ph.D. programmes. Candidates who are exempted from RET 2016 will have to take TEST-C to be a part of selection process as TEST-A and TEST-B are only qualifiers.
