CLAT 2017 Application form – step by step guide for filling form

The online application form for CLAT 2017 has been enabled from 1^st January, 2017 by the CHANAKYA NATIONAL LAW UNIVERSITY, PATNA which is the organizing institute of CLAT for 2017. The submission can be done in online mode only through CLAT application processing system (CAPS) hosted at this link.

In the process of filling up the application form, the candidate has to register with a valid e-mail id and a mobile number which are mandatory to fill the form. So the candidate shall keep this data ready before proceeding for registration. Those who don’t have a mobile number can use friend’s or relative’s mobile number.

After filling required information in the CLAT 2017 application form, the candidate shall also upload the scanned images of photograph, signature and required documents like category certificate or SAP certificate. The candidate is advised to keep the soft copies of all these documents ready to complete the application faster.

The application procedure consists of few steps and starts with registration. Following is the step by step instructions to fill the form.

Step 1 – Registration with CAPS

The candidate to fill the application has to register first with the CAPS and obtain login credentials for further logins. In the registration form, the candidate has to provide the following Information.

• Program applying for : UG/PG (Select appropriate program)
• Name of the applicant
• Father’s name of the applicant
• Mother’s name of the applicant
• Applicant’s category : (select one from  Unreserved / NRIs / NRI sponsored / OBC / SC / ST /SAP)
• Date of birth (Fill with date of birth of applicant)
• Email id (Fill up with email id and confirm the same in next field)
• Nationality (Select the country applicant belongs to)
• Mobile number (Fill up with mobile number and confirm the same in next field)

To finish the registration enter the captcha code that can be found at the bottom of the form and click on submit to complete.

Step 2 – Filling application form

Upon successful registration the candidate will receive email containing userid and password, which can be used for future logins and fill the application form. The candidate to login for filling application form has to click “Already registered” button on the CAPS portal. In this form the applicant can find 5 tabs and have to complete all the tabs one by one.

Tab 1 – Personal details

The candidate has to fill this part of CLAT 2017 application form with personal details that are listed below.

• State/Union territory
• Gender : Male/Female
• Region : Rural/Urban
• Corresponding address
• Alternative mobile number

After filling this data the applicant has to click on save & continue to fill the information in next tab.

Tab 2 – Qualification details

The applicant will be asked for the educational qualifications in this tab. The candidate applying for UG courses have to fill with the 10+2 exam details like grading system/ marks system, year of passing, board/university, max marks, marks obtained and percentage of marks obtained in the qualifying exam. The candidate applying for PG courses will have to fill with both 10+2 and UG exam details.

Tab 3 – Preferences for NLUs

In this part of application form candidate has to choose the NLUs in which he/she desiring admission in the order of preference.

Tab 4 – Document upload

The candidate can upload all the scanned documents aforementioned in this document in this part of application form. The candidate will also have to select the CLAT 2017 test centres where he/she wants to take the exam. Maximum of 3 centres can be selected by the applicant and have to select in the order of preference.

Tab 5 – Fee details

Here candidate has to opt for CLAT 2017 fee payment in online mode (the only mode of payment available) to continue for final submission of application. In this tab candidate will have an option to preview the application before continuing for final submission of CLAT 2017 application form. If the candidate found any information to be mistakenly entered, that can be corrected by navigating through respective tabs before final submission. The candidates can then click on “Submit” button to continue for fee payment and final submission of CLAT 2017 application form.

Upon successful payment candidates are advised to save or take a print out of final CLAT 2017 application form for future references.
