CBSE UGC NET January 2017 Session Applications Started from 17th October

Central Board of Secondary Examinations (CBSE) has opened window for online applications to UGC National Eligibility Test (NET) January 2017 session from yesterday 17th October, 2016. CBSE conducts NET on behalf of University Grants Commission (UGC) to determine eligibility of candidates for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) awards and Assistant Professor position.

CBSE UGC NET is conducted twice a year and January session is to be conducted on 22nd January, 2017. Exam is conducted for 100 different subjects in 90 cities across India. Last date for filling online application form is 16th November, 2016 and last date to pay application fee by e-challan is 17th November, 2016.

Application Process

Candidates to apply for UGC NET Jan 2017 session have to visit CBSE UGC NET website and click the link “Fill Application Form”, and then new candidates have to click the link “Apply for NET Jan - 2017” to start filling application form. Candidates in first step have to fill all the information required in the application form like examination related details, personal information, candidate mailing address, candidate permanent address, details of educational qualification and desired password for future logins. Upon submission of application form, system will generate an application number which has to be noted down for future logins along with password.

In second step candidate has to upload scanned images of latest photograph and signature in jpg/jpeg format. Image size for photo should be a minimum of 4KB and maximum of 40KB, and for signature minimum size of the image should be 1KB and should be less than 30KB. Dimensions of image for photograph should be 3.5 cm (width) x 4.5 cm (Height) only, and dimensions of signature image should be 3.5 cm (length) x 1.5 cm (Height) only.

In third step candidate has to proceed for payment of application fee by means of credit/debit card or by system generated e-challan. Application fee for UGC Net Jan 2017 session is Rs.600/- for general candidates, Rs.300/- for OBC category and Rs.150/- for SC/ST/PwD candidates. Candidates who choose to pay examination fee by e-challan have to click the option to generate e-challan which contains application number and other personal information of the candidate, take a printout of the e-challan and deposit the amount in nearest branch of Syndicate Bank/ ICICI/ HDFC/ Canara Bank.

In final step once after payment of application fee is confirmed in the portal, candidate shall take the printout of confirmation page for future references.

Admit cards for NET Jan 2017 session will be made available for download from 21st December, 2016 of which candidate has to take a printout and carry the same to the examination centre on the date of exam.
