MHRD Clarifies Over Percentage of Marks in Class 12 for Admissions to IITs, NITs, IIITS, IIEST and CFTIs

MHRD has issued a clarification over the weightage to class 12 marks in JEE Mains and there shall be no weightage considered in calculating JEE Main 2017 ranks. It is also mentioned that candidates applying for JEE (Main) 2017 and JEE (Advanced) should secure 75% marks in 12th class or should get place in top 20 percentile in the class 12 conducted by the respective boards, to get eligible for admissions into IITs, IIITS, NITs and other CFTIs. Relaxation of 10% in marks is given to SC/ST students. JoSAA will be responsible for admissions to IITs,NITs, IIITS,IIEST and CFTIs for 2017 academic year.

MHRD is also considering the scholarship scheme for meritorious students falling in ranks bellow AIR (all India rank) 2000 in JEE (Main) 2017 and planning for full waiver of tuition fee for the entire course.

CSAB 2017 in association with JoSSA will handle the admission cum counselling process for IITs, NITs, IIITs and other centrally funded technical institutes, and seat matrix for such institutions will be announced soon.

CSAB 2017 will directly handle the admissions for academic session 2017 to “reservation of seats in degree level technical courses for states/UT” category, and list of institutes and course wise seat availability will be announced soon. Admissions in this scheme will be done based on merit obtained by the candidates in JEE (Main) 2017.

CSAB will also conduct counselling for admissions into self finance technical institutes (SFTIs) on the basis of JEE (Main) 2017 and participating institutes list and CSAB –SFTI 2017 schedule will be announced later.
