WBJEE 2016 Admissions : Counseling to Start From 15th June

Counseling dates are announced for the candidates who have qualified for admissions to engineering, architecture and pharmacy streams in WBJEE 2016, the application for online counseling will start from 15th June, 2016. The counselling process is scheduled to be organized between 15th June and 19th July in three rounds. The exam was conducted on 17th may and results were declared on 5th June this year.

Seats available for admission through online counselling process:

  • 100% of seats from government engineering/technology colleges are available for admission based on General Merit Rank (GMR) in engineering stream obtained through WBJEE 2016.
  • 10 % of seats from self-financing affiliated institutions are available for admission based on the All India Rank obtained in JEE MAIN 2016 for engineering & technology, architecture and pharmacy courses.
  • 80% of the approved and affiliated seats from self-financing institutions who have opted for admission to 10% seats through management quota are available for admission through WBJEE 2016, based on the General Merit Rank for Engineering & Technology and Architecture courses and Pharmacy Merit Rank for Pharmacy courses. However from the institutions, who haven’t opted for 10% management quota seats, 90% of the seats are available for WBJEE 2016 candidates.

Online counselling Process

e-counseling will be done separately for WBJEEM-2016 rank holders and JEE-Main 2016 rank holders. For WBJEE 2016 rank holders three rounds of e-counseling will be held for allotment of seats. Candidates who were allotted seats have to physically report to the regional reporting centre to confirm the allotment of their seat.

A vacancy list of seats will be prepared at the end of first and second rounds, which will be made available for counseling for the next respective round. All vacant seats under reserved categories will be converted to general category at the end of second round as per standard conversion procedure and will be made available for allotment in the third counseling.

For JEE MAIN 2016 All India Rank holders counseling will be done in two rounds.

Online Registration & Payment of Counseling Fees

Candidates of two types (Type-1 with WBJEE 2016 Rank) and (Type-2 with JEE MAIN 2016 All India Rank) are eligible for registering to e-counseling. Online registration for both types is allowed in the first round of couseling only and no fresh registrations are permitted in second and third rounds. Candidates eligible for admission through WBJEE and JEE MAIN can register for counseling for both types.

Steps for applying

  1. All candidates are required to register online on the official counseling portal on http://wbjeeb.nic.in.
  2. After successful registration a candidate is required to download the e-challan and make the payment of Rs.510/- as non-refundable counseling fee by depositing in any branch of Allahabad Bank with Core Banking System (CBS).
  3. After payment, candidate are required to enter the payment details like transaction no, branch code & branch name, date of deposit etc., by logging in to the e-counseling portal.
  4. In next step Online Choice Filling of desired institute and preferred branch is to be done by the candidate in order of his/her priority.
  5. Candidates can fill in as many numbers of choices in the order of preference as they wish from the list of available courses. There is no maximum limit for filling the choices and it is advised that candidates should fill maximum number of choices so that “No Allotment” condition due to ‘choice exhausted’ would not arise.
  6. In next step candidates have to finalize and lock their choices before 5:00PM on the last date of application. Locking choices will complete by entering the password and confirming the Locking. Candidate can add or delete choices any number of times before locking choices. Once locking choices is done no changes are permitted in choice filling. If candidates fail to lock their choices before 5:00PM on last date of applying, the last saved choices will automatically be locked by the system.

Important things to note:

  • Candidates registered for both WBJEE and JEE MAIN counselling can give single set of choices only.
  • Admission to 10% of Management Quota seats in self financing institutions will be done at institution level.
  • Candidates who opted ‘Yes’ for up-gradation while registering to counselling, can change to ‘No’ after second round of allotment. Change of option from NO to YES is not allowed.
