CAT 2016 Test Date Announced, Registration Starts From 8th August and Exam Will be Held on 4th December

Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) announced the CAT 2016 schedule, and exam is to be held on 8^th December 2016 in 2 sessions. www.iimcat.ac.in will open the registration window from 8^th August 2016 and all the candidates aspiring to attend the test will have to register online only. Applications will be accepted online till 5:00PM of 22^nd September, 2016. CAT 2016 score is mandatory for 2017-18 admissions into various management (PGP, PGPEM, PGP-ABM, PGDHRM, etc) programs in 20 IIMs across India, and more than 600+ business schools accept CAT scores for admission into various management courses. A sum of Rs 1700/- (850 for SC/ST/PWB) has to be remitted against CAT registration fee during registration process.

Candidates holding a valid Bachelor degree with a minimum score of 50% (45% for SC/ST) or equivalent CGPA are only eligible to apply for CAT 2016. Candidates who are appearing final year of qualifying exam in 2017-18 are also eligible to apply subject to the admission guidelines.

CAT 2016 will be held on 4th December 2016 at 138 test cities across India. While applying for CAT 2016 candidates can select maximum 4 preferred test cities and after 18^th October candidate will be allotted with one of the test cities (preferred city only upon availability) along with any of the 2 sessions. Admit cards can be downloaded from 18th October and will be available till 4th December 2016.  

CAT 2016 is computer base test (CBT) and conducted in online mode. CAT 2016 comprises 3 sections and assesses the candidate’s ability in Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension, Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning and Quantitative Ability. Exam will be conducted for duration of 3 hours and exactly 60 minutes will be allocated for each section. Each section will have MCQ type questions and direct answer questions where in direct answer questions candidates have to type the answer. Candidates are not allowed to switch from one section 2 other section while writing the exam. Candidates can utilize the online tutorials which will be available from 18^th October 2016 to get familiar with the CBT and exam pattern.

CAT 2016 results will be announced in mid of the January 2017. Admission to the various IIMs will be conducted at institute level, admission process and basic eligibilities like academic eligibility, weightage and cut-offs are varied from institute to institute. Most of the IIMs conduct group discussion (GD) and personal interview (PI) to determine the candidature.
